Do you travel abroad frequently? Are you worried about the rate of commission and transaction charges you will have to pay everytime you use your card or change money?
You may wish to consider one of the following cards as a way of reducing your bills:
Nationwide is the only UK card issuer not to charge any international handling fees on foreign card purchases and withdrawals. The Nationwide Cash Advance fee is only 0.5% (minimum 50p), compared to a typical 2% / minimum £2 from other card issuers.
As far as we are aware, Nationwide is the only UK card issuer which does not charge for foreign currency purchases. Other card issuers, such as Barclaycard, may give you other features such as travel assistance, flight booking services, or certain kinds of limited free insurance.
American Express offer some of their members a travel service, together with extensive compensation if you are denied boarding (bumped) on a scheduled flight. As American Express calculate exchange rates through their own systems, you can usually expect a slightly more favourable conversion rate compared to other cards.
