Some credit cards offer travel related loyalty schemes that can prove to be very handy for anyone who travels frequently.
They generally work by enabling you (the card holder) to accumulate varying amounts of air miles or destination points for every pound that is spent on your card. The points collected can be redeemed on a wide range of flights, hotels or holidays from selected travel agents.
Bonuses are offered by most providers if purchases are made within a certain amount of time after the account was opened, while some bonuses may be offered on purchases made on partner sites.
Travel related credit cards tend to charge relatively high interest rates and an annual fee, but they do provide a host of great features (as long as the balance on your credit card is regularly paid off). These include comprehensive travel insurance, concierge services, special offers on flights and holidays and access to VIP lounges worldwide, in addition to their air mile point schemes.
