Regardless of what the title states, gold and platinum credit cards do not provide the holder with some sort of prestige status, and the reality is that their rates do not generally differ from those offered by standard cards.
A higher level of income is usually required to obtain a gold or platinum credit card, but they are available to most people with a good credit score.
These credit cards generally offer more generous cash withdrawal limits and higher credit limits than standard cards, as well as other additional incentives and benefits. These can often include travel insurance, purchase protection, extended warranties for household appliances and special deals on certain products.
