Some lenders are incredibly choosy about who they will open an account for, whereas others may offer a wide range of accounts, with the best deals being available for those people who have the highest credit scores.
To find out more about credit scoring, and how lenders make their decisions, please read our online borrowing guide that covers most of the frequently asked questions.
Capital One has a credit card to suit everyone’s needs; you can even have a low credit score. They can still offer you a credit card with a small credit limit which will increase as you keep your payments up to date.
A quick word of caution - although we have a range of very attractive credit card offers on this site, be careful about applying for too many at once. Although many lenders would rather offer you a card at less attractive rates than the decline your application completely, they will look less favorably if they see a large number of applications for the same kind of financial product at a similar time.
If you make an unsuccessful application to one card issuer, then you would be best advised to wait at least another 3 months before applying for a different card from somebody else.
