Bank of Scotland offer a huge range of specialist and charity credit
cards. These are great if you have a particular football team or charity
you would like to show support for.
However, their rates are well below the market leaders, and if you really wanted to raise money for charity, you could use a card which pays out a higher rate of cash back, and donate that.
For example, most affinity cards pay out around 25p for every £100 you spend - so you would have to spend £4000 just to raise £10. Instead, you could apply for an Accucard credit card with 0.8% cash rebate, or American Express Blue Card, and earn £1 cash back for every £100 spent - four times the value.
If you would like to show your support for an organisation, then we recommend carrying this card, and using it for smaller purchases where you can get the card seen. Charities usually also receive a fee for every successful application made.
For larger purchases, we recommend using something different.
