If you're just looking for credit card for occasional use, or to cover those financial emergencies that can occur from time to time, then make sure you select a card company that is easy to contact, and offers you are sufficiently high credit limit to cover all eventualities.
You may find that it is worth putting occasional large purchases through your card, and paying the balance off in full when the statement appears. This shows the card issuer that you have a history of good payment, and will enable them to offer you a credit limit to match your requirements when you do need it.
Supplement your existing emergency card by building up a separate emergency fund, so that you are not caught out with a heavy debt should an unexpected event occur.
