The first Nectar Credit Card from American Express has been launched and would be available from mid September.
Nectar Credit Card holders would be receiving double loyalty points at participating retailers receiving points on their Nectar Credit Card from American Express as well as on their regular Nectar loyalty card.
This would mean savings of up to two per cent on their purchases from Sainsbury's, Argos and Debenhams for Nectar Credit Card holders.
Nectar Credit Card holders would also receive discounts on flights, holidays, excursions, cinema tickets and movie rentals, totalling an average of £160 saved a year.
The Nectar Credit Card from American Express will enable Nectar collectors to earn more points, more quickly than ever before says Katherine Whitton, vice president and head of UK product management at American Express.
"In fact, spending has never been so rewarding," she said of the new scheme of which the credit card would be fee-free, with a competitive APR and balance transfer rate.
According to the client services director of Loyalty Management UK, the company responsible for the Nectar rewards programme, Brian Sinclair, this new partnership significantly enhances Nectars appeal to their collectors.
The Nectar programme has grown from four to 17 partners in the last two-and-a-half years.
Half of British households are active collectors of Nectar points, bagging them rewards of more than £450million.
