Earn rewards with new Sky credit card

Wed, 04 May 2005

The UK's first interactive TV credit and loyalty card has been launched by Sky. The card fits into a second slot in Sky digiboxes, and will allow people to pay for home shopping via their televisions.

It also works like any other credit card, and can be used in shops and cash machines. It offers a zero per cent interest rate on purchases and balance transfers until January 1st 2006 and a typical purchase APR of 16.9 per cent.

An associated loyalty scheme, which is "very generous" according to Sky head of loyalty Peter Waugh, offers one Sky point for every pound spent.

These points can be exchanged for rewards like discount off Sky subscriptions, pay-per-view football games or movies or the opportunity to enter draws for prizes such as a National Geographic Egypt expedition.

"Our research reveals that people want loyalty schemes that give them real benefits not just gimmicks. This is exactly what SkyCard provides," Mr Waugh said.
