American Express launches Nectar credit card

Thu, 15 Sep 2005

American Express has announced the launch of its new Nectar credit card.

With half of all UK households participating in the Nectar reward scheme, this would be an attractive new credit card deal if they want to switch credit card providers.

In addition to earning Nectar points, the credit card also offers an interest free period of 56 days and 5.9 per cent balance transfer rate for the life of the balance.

The credit card is fee free and the interest rate on the credit card is 12.9 per cent APR.

Frequent credit card users will benefit from a specifically designed insurance package which includes insurance protection against online fraud as well as refund and purchase protection.

Nectar customers holding the American Express Nectar credit card will be able to 'double dip' the points they earn if they pay with this credit card in addition to presenting their usual Nectar card.

These credit card holders will earn four points for every pound spent instead of the usual two.

Credit cardholders will also earn a point for every pound they spend whenever and wherever they use their American Express Nectar credit card.

"Thousands of Nectar collectors have already pre-registered for the new credit card because they can see how much easier it is to earn more points more quickly," noted Nectar's managing director Richard Campbell.

"Now is the time for other Nectar collectors to think seriously about the plastic they have in their wallet," he said.

The new credit card will be launched this Friday.
