UK holidaymakers who plan to use a car or other vehicle as part of their jaunt this summer could find that fuel is cheaper if they use credit cards, it has been claimed.
Post Office said that credit cards which offer zero per cent commission - such as the one that the organisation offers - will lead to savings for motoring enthusiasts.
Research from the company found that the destination in question could have a further financial impact, along with the choice of credit cards used.
Fuel is cheapest in Switzerland among the Eurozone counties, whether payment is made by credit cards or other methods, while the priciest petrol is found in The Netherlands, the research revealed.
Kevin McAdam, Post Office head of travel services, said: "We advise UK holidaymakers to plan their motoring itineraries carefully in advance.
"If you are travelling down through Germany and crossing into Austria, it makes sense to fill up in Austria, where unleaded petrol costs around 19 per cent less."
Britons planning to use credit cards while holidaying overseas may also wish to be wary of dynamic currency conversion, a process by which they could end up paying higher rates when accessing credit overseas.
