Britons have been advised to keep hold of the helpline numbers associated with their credit cards when they head on holiday.
A spokesperson for Apacs, the UK payments association, said that keeping hold of these credit card helpline numbers would be one of the key pieces of advice that UK consumers should be given.
The number will provide security for credit card users, "if something does happen", said the spokesperson.
Additionally, the expert advised that holidaymakers should only take the credit cards that they feel they will need, rather than taking all of their plastic with them.
"I think if you've got a lot of store cards or five credit cards then you don't need to take all of them ... minimise your chances of fraud. Look after them. Frighteningly, people don't," she remarked.
An expert at Direct Line recently issued advice to holidaymakers, suggesting that annual travel insurance policies may not cover against any dangerous activities that they are planning to undertake while away.
Britons should check their travel insurance policies to guard against the possibility of being unprotected, said Carmel McCarthy, the firm's public relations manager.
