Beginner's guide to credit cards

Mon, 18 Aug 2008

The Independent newspaper this week published a guide to acquiring and using credit cards .

The beginner’s guide to credit card use advised consumers to use comparison websites to compare different deals, whilst making sure their individual circumstances are catered for.

The guide included really useful bits of credit card advice . For instance, those credit card borrowers looking to fund a single expensive purchase should use the card with the longest zero per cent interest . However, those wishing to transfer a balance from an existing card should look for one with a long interest-free balance transfer period.

Further useful credit card advice included for those borrowers who pay off every month – they should look for the best rewards. Borrowers who will have a balance on the card should find one with low APR. The guide also warns consumers with credit cards to avoid withdrawing cash on a credit card if possible.
