Female student have bigger credit card debt

According to recent research by Halifax, female students in the UK have higher balances outstanding on their credit cards.

The reports indicate that the average female attending university has over £250 to pay on a credit card . Meanwhile, male students typically owes a little over £170 on their credit card .

Regional differences also accounted for different levels of credit card debt, with the south-east considerably higher than the south west.

Halifax offer a free text message service to aid in monitoring credit card balances . The head of Halifax Credit Cards, Ken Stannard, reportedly said: "Our credit card is designed to help students stay in control of their finances ."
