Cardiff high credit card fraud

Thu, 07 Feb 2008

As many as a fifth of credit card holders in Cardiff are the victims of credit card fraud, according to a recent report.

A survey by CPP group found that thousands of credit card customers around the Welsh capital found that they were the victims of credit card fraud when they checked their statements.

The findings make Cardiff the fifth most likely place to be a victim of credit card fraud . Much larger cities such as Birmingham, Manchester, London and Bristol occupied the top slots.

The head of card protection at CPP, Zoe Manton, reportedly commented: "Card fraud is a serious concern that is still common despite preventative measures like chip and PIN . Fraud levels increased by 26 per cent in the first six months of 2007 compared to the same period in 2006, to reach £264m, a figure that confirms fraud is still a problem."
