London credit card fraud hotspot due to size

According to recent reports from an industry expert, London is the credit card fraud hotspot of the country due to its size, rather than the carelessness of its inhabitants.

A spokesman for UK payment association APACS commented that the reason credit card fraud is so common in London is due to the sheer volume of credit card transactions and retail outlets that accept credit cards .

Mark Bowerman commented that Londoners were not necessarily less careful with their credit cards . Bowerman was reported as commenting: "As long as you are a cardholder who's following common sense precautions you can minimise the chances of yourself becoming a victim; and [they are] the same steps to take whether you're in London or in Yorkshire. I wouldn't say it's anything to do with lifestyle, it's just to do with the fact that there are more cardholders and more retail outlets [in the capital]."
