New credit cards do away with small change for London shoppers, eliminating the need to fumble around with pennies and pounds.
New readers in place in a number of London shops allow consumers to swipe their credit and debit cards, instantly seeing how much money has been deducted from their account and making queuing a thing of the past.
The new tap-and-go technology is currently only on the streets of London, but it is expected to take off throughout the country in the next few years. Generally, tap-and-go is limited to small-scale transactions, and when more money is spent a pin will still be required.
As many as 3000 shops in London already have the readers installed, making the cards more attractive than ever. Other new technology includes using phones as credit cards .
