Unfortunately, credit card fraud has become a major problem in the last few years. Because many consumers rely on their credit cards to fund many different types of purchase, credit card use is wider spread, and many consumers appear to forget that using credit cards does carry some risks.

Credit card fraud and theft affects thousands of people every year, and it takes numerous different forms. Credit card fraud operates in a variety of different ways, including direct theft and complex online fraud such as phishing .

Complicated fraud where the criminals pretend to be banks or other financial services companies, or even HM Revenue and Customs, are on the increase. Credit card details given out by a false caller can also pose a security risk.

Experts say that consumers should be aware of credit card fraud and take every measure to protect themselves, check their statements regularly to pick up fraud quickly, and make sure their details are kept safe at all times.
