Criminals make credit cards

Thu, 26 Jun 2008

Despite increasing focus on fighting credit card fraud, it appears that criminal gangs can now manufacture credit cards .

This type of credit card crime has now become more common, with a recent 25 per cent increase in this type of fraud. Thieves go round chip and pin measures by stealing and cloning credit cards.

Specially designed illegal devices ‘bug’ a cash till, and clone the information story on the magnetic strip, as well as lifting the pin code . The criminals then take this information and manufacture bogus cards to take out cash in foreign countries, where cash machine sophistication is not as high.
