Credit card survey from Co-operative Bank

Thu, 22 May 2008

Financial services provider Co-operative Bank Credit Cards claim that the average British person will spend just under £550,000 over the course of their lives on Saturdays alone.

Co-Operative Bank Credit Cards conducted a survey to generate the conclusions, finding that many people treat themselves at the weekend after a long week at work. General expenditure was on consumer goods such as shoes and clothes, followed by eating out, food and drink. A proportion of this spending would generally be with a credit card .

The product manager at Co-Operative Bank Credit Cards, Maxine Xodo, was reported as commenting: "As a nation we work some of the longest hours in Europe and many people live for the weekend, with Saturday being the one-day where people feel they can let their hair down and enjoy themselves."
