Two-thirds of people who resolved to transfer a credit card balance at the start of the year have failed to do so, according to a new study.
Research by Abbey Credit Cards found that only 33 per cent of people who made a resolution to shift their debt to a new provider had followed through with it.
Callum Gibson, head of credit cards at the company, said: "Resolutions have a habit of falling by the wayside by the start of February but it's not too late for people to follow up on plans and transfer to a credit card with a zero per cent introductory offer."
The research also found that although 55 per cent of Britons paid their Christmas credit card bill in full, half of the remaining 45 per cent cleared less than a third of it.
Yesterday, MBNA announced it has launched a new credit card offering an interest rate of 5.9 per cent for the life of balance transfers .
