Credit card reward scheme given further boost

Thu, 25 Feb 2010

Barclaycard customers have been boosted by the addition of another incentive to the credit card's upcoming Freedom rewards scheme.

Energy firm npower will top up their customers' reward money by £60 if they transfer their gas and electricity supply to the company by May 17th.

The advantage of the Barclaycard Freedom scheme is that rewards are in the form of cash on the card, not vouchers, and can be spent in with thousands of retailers and websites.

Sarah Newman, Managing Director of Barclaycard Freedom, said: "Offers like npower's - the first of its kind in the Barclaycard Freedom scheme - give customers a new way that they can build up their reward balance."

The scheme, which will be introduced in March, has already named partners such as LA Fitness, YO! Sushi, Firebox.com, Goldsmiths and Nationwide Autocentres .

It will be available to all existing eight million Barclaycard customers and will be done entirely through the card's chip.
