New research has revealed that
consumers in the UK feel that they are getting a good deal from
credit card providers . The study of over 500
credit card users, undertaken last month by Auriemma Consulting
Group (ACG), found that customers thought they were being treated
fairly, and that they felt valued by their
credit card provider .
The research found that 94 per cent of
credit card users believed their card company treats them
fairly currently, that 84 per cent said that they had experienced
no change in how fairly their
credit card company treated them over the past year, and that
82 per cent felt that their credit card company values them as a
customer.
Megan Bramlette, a managing associate at ACG said Over the
past year, the payments industry has introduced proactive tactics
and strategies to convey the message of ‘
treating customers fairly ’ (TCF ) to the consumer. These
findings imply that consumers felt that they were being treated
fairly prior to the introduction of the regulations and
consumer rights, and that these strategies really only
succeeded at reinforcing an existing sentiment.
It was also shown that the benefits of new consumer rights and
regulations that have recently been introduced are having little
impact on how people use their
credit cards . This level of satisfaction shown has come after
a number of increases on credit charges that were forced on card
companies by the economic downturn.
However, it is also the case that most consumers are not really
bothered about their credit cards, with 81 per cent saying that
they generally only think about their credit cards when there are
problems with their account or level of
customer service .
