Your credit card provider shouldn’t contact you, as you will have given this company authority to act on your behalf. If they do send you letters concerning your claim then please forward them to this company.
It is highly unlikely and extremely rare for credit card companies to close the account of a customer who decides to reclaim any charges on their account. However there are some companies that may decide to take this action, so it is advisable to have another credit card ready before going ahead with your claim.
It is worth noting that you may be due even more compensation if you find your account has been closed while the card is still active.
The OFT’s decision to introduce a Bank Charges test case has led to the Financial Services Authority (FSA) putting a hold on reclaiming unfair bank fees. However, this test case is specifically related to bank charges and does not apply to credit card claims.
